DFPG Investments Inc., a dually-registered independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisor, announced that Mike Crimmins, formerly the CEO and managing director of KBS Capital Markets Group, and Robert Straton, previously a senior vice president at Cole Real Estate Investments, have joined the firm.

“Both Mike and Bob are widely respected within the industry. Each have held important roles and done some impressive work for well-known companies,” said Mike Bendix, DFPG’s chief executive officer. “We are pleased to associate the DFPG brand with two outstanding professionals.”

Crimmins spent years at KBS Capital Markets, advancing through various positions before his departure as the chief executive officer and managing director. The 20-year industry veteran previously served as the firm’s national sales manager and divisional vice president, and prior to his roles at KBS, he spent five years as a western division sales manager at AXA Distributors in St. Louis. Crimmins earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Missouri.

I have been in the financial services industry for 20 years and our firm provides an education platform that gets clients to “think differently” about their financial picture.  For many years we have communicated to clients the need to diversify their portfolios using alternative asset classes and more specifically, private non-traded investments.  Due diligence on these types of financial vehicles is essential and when I learned about Blue Vault in 2010, our firm immediately began using their material as a tool to build confidence in the minds of our advisors on which alternatives to recommend to clients.  I am impressed with the way Blue Vault continues to add value to their subscribers and I view their publication as a tremendous resource in today’s complex world.
